The winners and the jury of this edition
We proudly present the winners of the Warm Technology Challenge 2024! During this third edition, no less than three prizes were awarded to promising students who submitted their innovative concepts for warm technology, aimed at people with dementia. The festive award ceremony took place on June 27th in the Natlab, Eindhoven, and was led by Marco Blom during the closing of the Warm Technology Conference.
This year's jury consisted of an impressive panel of experts: Marco Blom (Alzheimer Nederland), Sonja Bouten (Ambassador Young Dementia), Sandra Suijkerbuijk (Surplus) and Laura Koenen (Studio Laura Koenen).
Jury Prize: Archiful
This year the Jury Prize went to Wouter Stevens for his project Archival. Using auditory cues, Archiful helps recall memories and stimulates conversation in a playful way. The project uses technology to address the negative impact of memory loss and
to alleviate confusion. The jury praised Archiful as a creative and innovative application of warm technology, with great potential for further development and a valuable impact on the lives of people with dementia and their loved ones.
Price included: Olfactory Link
For the first time, an Inclusion Award was also presented, with a focus on social impact and the involvement of people with dementia and their loved ones in the design process. This award went to Olfactory Link, developed by students
Jeroen Polderman, Nour Kamel, Daniël de Weerdt and Mart Jonkman. Their key ring for healthcare professionals uses a personal scent to promote recognition and social interaction in healthcare institutions.
Audience Award: Beacon Relay
The audience of the Warm Technology Conference had the chance to vote for their favorite project during the exhibition. The Audience Award went to Beacon Relay by Lucas Cardinaal. Beacon Relay is an interactive and social game,
designed for people with dementia and their caregivers in a day care. This game stimulates physical activity, cognitive stimulation and social interaction, all essential factors for the well-being of people with dementia.
