This expert group, consisting of computer scientists, HCI researchers, designers, ethics experts and engineers, works with healthcare professionals and people with dementia to develop best practice guidelines and take a participatory design approach to integrating new technologies into healthcare.
About DIGIT
With increasing numbers of people living with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions, we must increasingly rely on innovative technologies to support diverse caregivers and independent living. However, cross-border and interdisciplinary research is limited, resulting in slower adoption of innovative tools through isolated research.
We want to contribute to this with our expert group consisting of computer scientists, researchers in the field of human-computer interaction, designers, ethical experts and engineers. By working together with healthcare professionals, people with dementia, and various researchers internationally, we will develop best practice guidelines and adopt a participatory design approach for the integration of new technologies in healthcare. We will identify cross-cultural factors and adopt a participatory design approach to working with participants with Alzheimer's disease and dementia in general. In this way, we will build a stronger network to support ongoing research, integrate stakeholder perspectives into technology development, and provide a roadmap for how new technologies can support people with dementia to live well.
