Conference Dementia, Design & AI

Conference DDAI

The first international conference about Dementia, Design and AI!

On the 30th of June 2022 the ECDT organizes the first conference about Dementia, Design and AI in Eindhoven.
The conference is meant for research institutions, care professionals, companies, informal caregivers and for you!

What can AI mean for people with dementia? How do we connect healthcare to technology? How do we design innovations together with people with dementia and their environment? Join us on the 30th of June 2022 in Eindhoven for DDAI2022: the first international conference on dementia, design and AI.

We offer a diverse program of lectures, workshops and real-life stories. At a beautiful location at the heart of Eindhoven, with room for personal interaction and informal sharing of experiences and knowledge. Organised by the ECDT together with Alzheimer Nederland and JAIN.

Prior to the conference, an open design competition, the Warm Technology Challenge, is organized for students of the TU/e. During the conference their ideas will be showcast and the winners will be announced.

Workshops
Workshop 1

Workshop 2
Certification-D / Open Access Tool
The Interreg NWE Certification-D project supports SMEs in NWE that develop and market innovative, reliable, self-determined home living products for People with Dementia.

As part of the learning from the research within the Living Labs and the set-up of the certification process, we have designed a platform where the insights are collected and translated into guidelines and tools to support companies in implementing their design with people with dementia, to be accessible by people with dementia. The content provided in this platform invites to adapt the complexity of the language and the interaction to the abilities of the users, taking into account symptoms related to the different stages of dementia (difficulties with complex attention, executive functioning, learning and memory, language, perceptual-motor) and possible comorbidities.

Workshop 3

Interviews & interactive sessions
Presentation Design for Cooking + Live interview
Sonja Bouten tells us about her experiences within the study ‘Guided cooking’ for people with dementia.

Interactive musical closing by Andrew Greenwood
Art and technology have a complex but meaningful history of working together and influencing one another. With every new evolution in technology, art changes too. Understanding this relationship between these two realms has the potential to impact individual creative expression and healing. In this part, Andrew will guide us in an interactive musical session.
