The Expertise Center for Dementia & Technology
The ECDT collaborates with Alzheimer Netherlands en TU Eindhoven. We strive to contribute to a changing approach to dementia in society. The technology we develop and implement is warm technology, because we always work together with people with dementia and their loved ones, according to the principle: 'Nothing about us, without us'.
Warm technology for people with dementia
Dementia is distressing for everyone who encounters it. With Warme Technology's positive approach, we support them and offer them a higher quality of life. We do this mainly with people with dementia and their environment.
Too often, technology is developed for the elderly, instead of with the elderly. And too often, technological possibilities, such as interactive screens and sensors, take center stage instead of the needs, wishes and possibilities of the target group. That has to be better. With the use of Warm Technology we improve the quality of life and promote well-being. In this concept, technology is a means and not an end. Using warm technology can help you continue to embrace life, remain attached to your familiar environment and keep in touch with the people you love.
The center is an initiative of TU/e and Alzheimer Netherlands to positively change the lives of people with dementia through the use of Warm Technology. We work together with healthcare parties, companies, researchers and citizens.
